30.1. Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary in these Regulations, the following applies to Junior A hockey:

a) No player having Canadian citizenship shall be classified as an Import;

b) Any player who meets the definition of Import in his first season of Junior A hockey shall continue to be classified as an Import when registering to play Junior A hockey in any subsequent season;

c) The maximum number of Imports that can register and play on a Junior A team at any given time shall be seven (7) in the 2013-14 season, and shall be six (6) beginning in the 2014-15 season. A review of that maximum number shall occur prior to the 2015-16 season.

d) If a team requires special assistance through any unusual situation which develops, the Chair of Hockey Canada or his designate may permit a team to register and play Imports in addition to the number of number of Imports permitted under Regulation K.30.1(c), using the same criteria set out in By-Laws 1214(a), (b) and (d)

Thanks for the clarification. I know at one point Imports were considered from outside the province. Then again I've only this past season gotten into the Bobcats heavily, so I may be confusing Junior B or Senior AAA rules.

I agree that the letter brings up very good points. Ottawa U however is CIS and not Canadian Junior Hockey, maybe that's why it was deleted. There is a forum for university hockey on HFBoards.

Hey all,

The time is near to release the CHL mod that I've been working on for the past 20 months. I put together a little video showing 1 period of gameplay. It features the Memorial Cup Champions Halifax Mooseheads, and my hometown Ottawa 67's. I'll keep you all posted on any updates. :)

Well I guess we'll see how the eastern leagues size up are like this weekend. When i look atthe results of the boxing day central cup tournament where there were two quebec teams competing vs one njohl /cchl/ojhl- A quebec team
won. The tournaments first year 2011 they were finalists albeit other leagues sent two teams vs just one lhjaaaq team. In 2012 there were two teams of the 8 - semifinal finish for one -and a winning record for the other.
Lhjaaaq is a junior a league. The letters mean nothing

This league is unique in that it has no import limit..seems like the goal is to attract Americans who won't have any sort of eligibility issues playing in a Canadian independent league but also have interest in Major Junior or BCHL hockey.

While each team brings in an impressive resume. The favourites, in my opinion, are the host Vernon Vipers.

They have been to (and won) the Royal Bank Cup numerous times; they play in the best Tier 2 Jr.A league in Canada; they weren't exactly slouches in their own league (losing in the league championship); they have the home crowd (with a capacity crowd being more ppl than any of these other teams have even played in front of this year); they are coming into the tournament with the most rest/injury recovery time.

I am from Nova Scotia and the only team that gave Casselman a go was Sackville Blazers.I watched many of the game online and it was so sad to not see many fans there if any.It will do so well next year when it is held in The EOJHL area.Great job Casselman and your coaching staff and all the support you guys get.

Would you rather play Major Junior or Division 1 college hockey?

Another factor that can be seen as a positive or a negative is in major junior you can be traded. If the team isn't a good fit, you can be moved and continue to play at that level. Teams and players can have no trade clauses but they are often waved or can be a point of contention.

In the NCAA if things change or don't work out inorder to transfer to a different school you have to sit out a year. Or leave college all together for the CHL or another level of play. And as mentioned the scholarship can be pulled.

That rumor has been around for at least 12 months. I seen both the owner and current coach a couple of weeks ago and HF was still the coach as of then.

CIHL got a little closer to reality yesterday, they're now part of the UHU, under the Amateur Athletic Union.

EDIT:

This portion of the article with potential expansion cities is notable.

Quote:

The CIHL intends to announce individual member teams throughout the next several weeks as each team meets their final screening and AAU approvals. Final CIHL team approval is now based on meeting the AAU Membership screening approval process and individual teams having secured their own community ice time commitments.

The CIHL Executive Branch has approved the following possible 28 CIHL community locations in order to begin the final approval process for both this coming season and CIHL future expansion.

Cornwall is a team I expect to make a lot of moves this summer. I think Cumberland and Nepean are going to have a very good season.
